I am buying a hard drive w/ a ATA100 and planning on buying a motherboard with an ATA 133. This is probably a odd question, but can u hook the hard drive to the motherboard, or do both have to be either ATA100 or ATA133??

ATA100 will work on a ATA133.

A ATA133 drive on a ATA100 motherboard would cause the drive to run at the ATA100.

But a ATA100 drive is fine on a ATA133 motherboard.
