View Full Version : PC keeps hanging - Split thread...

hi there, i haf encounter this problems few days back, my pc keep hangin whenever i try to double click my saved media files, it would goes stagnent on my screen n when i push one of the keyboard button, got a tooc sound n finally my screen stuck there forever even i try to click ALT CTRL DEL , it wont buldge at all.. so i haf to hard reset,no chooice

then after reseting, i try insert my dvd on the dvd rom, seems tat d same problems occur ,so i reset again, this time i try to log into forum n post to u guys on the internet, it also hang... geeeezzzz.. :confused:

the last few days i got downloaded this so call WCPUID software to check my cpu processor multipier, somehow dis software is not realiable as it also stated (Used at my own risk).

my pc is running at 833MhZ celeron(overclock, all the while ok b4 downloaded WCPUID software) am using window 2kpro.

hope u guys can gib me a rough idea wat to do next,also i hate to reboot PC

I'm not sure so far what might be causing the lockups, but the very first thing to do toward troubleshooting is clock it back to the speed it was originally intended.

There is a good possibility the overclocking is at least part of the cause of the problem, we don't know until we eliminate that aspect of it. Also check your heatsink and fan, blow out any dust with some canned compressed air and I would run it for a while with a small fan blowing inside to check for heat related problems.

The main thing is to get it set back to the CPU speed it was originally intended, overclocking is a very good possibility of a problem by itself, we need to eliminate that before moving on.

oh by the way, dear moderator, i was looking at some thread b4 i post a new thread coz unlike other forums, some r trying to save space, so i tot i can use tat 2 yr old thread .coz at other forum some ppl r paying for the space by themselves. thks for the info anyway :)

hi there paleo, it seems tat i haf saw the problem inside my mobo, my agp Nvidia's fan is not running at all, i can feel the card very hot, can it b the fault taht overheat n hung my PC after sometime? funny thing is i can still use my monitor when fan not running, but after sometime it hang. :)
