Hi.

I currently would like to burn a bunch of videos (mostly funny clips) from various sites onto a CD-R to watch on my DVD player. Only, I don't know which format the file needs to be in. I'm thinkin' like .mpeg or .dvd. What is the general format that DVD players read? I have a converter that has a 30-time trial period. It converts videos into the following formats:

MPEG-1
MPEG-2
DVD
VCD
SVCD

Thanks for the help. Although .DVD sounds incredibly obvious, technology sometimes plays tricks, ya know?

Appreciate it.

The first thing you need to do is
Check the DVD player
What format does it allow?

Is that Dvd player the one in the computer or the one hooked to the TV ?
Many older DVD players don't support video on CD's

youre going to be making a VCD or a SVCD (the basic video formats playable from a CDR onto a DVD player). though that is not in itself a file format, but rather a disc format, the program might output (burn) the final disc. most software will allow various input files and do all the converting itself, so i wouldn't try to do any conversions unless it asks you to.

why not just get nero/easy cd creator trials. they will allow you to create a VCD by clicking two buttons. i'd ditch that old software
