Hay everyone!
I just bought a new Micro ATX/P4 processer combo to replace the parts in a computer we had that broke somehow. The only problem is that the old computer I had is a full ATX, and I didn't know the mobo we bought was micro and now i cant take it back. So.... I installed it (It looks rediculas because it is so small and the case is so big ;) hehehehe...) I hooked up the psu and turned it on and nothing happend... i would push the button and it would just move the fan a little bit then stop.....?
Is it even possible to put a Micro ATX mobo in an ATX case? TIA

Should be possible...

You usually just need to move the motherboard standoffs to line up with the mounting holes. If you have not done so, lining up the standoffs, you might be shorting the board to the case.

I would suggest attempting a barebones boot outside of the case on a non-conductive surface. Just put in the RAM, video card, PSU/heatsink/fan, monitor, and keyboard. Wiring from the case for the speaker and power buttons needs to also be connected and see if you can simply make it through POST...you should hear a single beep.

We'll need more info about your hardware and what you have hooked up where in order to help you. The first possibility that springs to mind is the little square 12V connector. Did you hook that up? Some P4-based mobo's won't turn on if that plug isn't there.

EDIT - Doh! You beat me by one minute!

Hehe...yeah and between you just about all the bases are covered...

One comment though, the case wires don't absolutely have to be connected, a speaker is nice though, and a small screwdriver can be used to short the power on pins to start up the computer. Unplug it to shut down. None of the other front panel wires are necessary with a bare bones boot just to prove or disprove a ground problem.

Also reseat the RAM, and video card if it has one, I've seen RAM chips with bad contact fail to boot with no video and no beeps on several various boards. Others will give you a beep code for no RAM. Usually 8 or continuous beeps or one looooong one.

There is no such thing as a micro-atx PSU. It's either AT, atx or atx-2 The size, which is what the 'micro' refers to, of your mobo has nothing to do with it. The little square plug is for P4's and is just an atx PSU. Atx-2 has an extra power lead for video cards (I think..).
