I have a Compaq Presario S6020WM, OS is WinXP Home I just upgraded the RAM to 512MB, my PC automatically assigns 8MB of RAM to the integrated video, How do I remove that setting, or get that 8MB back?

You DO want to be able to see something right??

Without that 8mb going to video, you won't be able to see anything if you are using the onboard video. If you are using an add-on video card you can disable the onboard video in BIOS.

yes I am using a PCI video card at the moment and the integrated video card is disabled but it still read my RAM as being 504MB instead of 512MB

Unfortunately, because it's a Compaq, the standard procedures won't work. You'll have to delve into the Compaq help files and the manual and any online support documents you can find in order to figure out the answer.

With an industry standard mobo & BIOS, disabling the onboard video will fix this. But as you can see, Compaq is different... ;)

thanks saphalline I'll check on that, and by the way I went ahead and got that MX4000 Video Card you suggested on one of my threads it came in yesterday and I installed it, it's working great and love the way it runs also upgraded RAM makes a lot of difference, thanks for all the advice you've given me

Good, I'm glad it worked out. And thanks for the follow-up - it's helpful for the rest of us if we know what works and what doesn't.
