Hi.. My computer was recently in a tech shop & had a power supply replaced.. I know they changed some of the settings also during troubleshooting...I had it in because it wouldnt turn on... ANYWAYS, my mouse is now eratic. If i move the cursor slowly from one side of the screen to the other, it is ok. If I move it fast, it acts like it is being blocked & it stays in the general area.. it bounces around a bit before it settles. I have tried another mouse & it does the same thing.. I have reinstalled the drivers & then reinstalled win 98 to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated. Jeff

Test the computer after each step:.....
Run A Virus check.
If the issue occurs in only one program, delete and reload that program.
Shut down the computer and "clean" the mouse ball and the ball cavity.
Reseat the mouse connection. Eliminate any extension cables, switch boxes, and so on. Connect the mouse directly to the computer and verify that the mouse is connected to the proper port.
If available, try a different mouse.
Shut down the computer. Remove all newly added hardware and software.
Use Msconfig to disable all programs. Windows 98 & Windows Me if this is what your using?
Check the Device Manager in Normal mode.
Verify that the USB controller is properly installed.
If the mouse is serial, check the COM port device and verify that it is properly configured.
Start the computer in Safe mode.
Check Device Manager for duplicate devices.
Remove any incorrect mouse devices.
Delete and reload the mouse drivers from the System Restoration CD.
Note: By performing the next step all of your data will be erased. You need to make appropriate backups before carrying out this procedure.
LAST RESORT!!!
Run the Fdisk program, and reformat the hard disk drive. If you suspect a virus may be causing the issue, GWScan an IDE drive or Low Level Format a SCSI drive before Fdisk and format.
