This is the link to the prodcut that I purchased and recieved today.
I am installing this card onto a ATI Radeon 9800Pro. I have a 400w PSU.
Once I finished installation I couldn't wait to try my games, thinking of how much the card would have cooled down.
But, During a game I was playing, I began to recieve Artifacts, this has never ever happened before, until I upgraded to the VGA Silencer Rev. 3.
If anybody know anything about my problem please reply with some help, I am very worried.
Thank you.

Did you overclock the card? Maybe the extra cooling isn't enough to compensate. Did you install everything properly, following instructions, etc? Does it happen in all 3D games, or just some?

Where and how much Arctic Silver did you use? What did the VGA Silencer 3 replace? The stock cooling unit? Is this an ATI-manufactured 9800 Pro, or was it made by a partner like Powercolor or Gigabyte? Did you make any other system changes while you re-worked the vid card?
My first guess is that too much Arctic Silver was used around at least one of the RAM chips, oozed off to the side, and is causing occassional shorts to the leads. That would cause bit-wise errors to go into or come out of that RAM chip and lead to really messed up visuals. Or perhaps the cooler doesn't cover the RAM chips and thus they are overheating and causing texture misrenderings.

Too answer the first question, nope, I have never even thought of attemping to OC my card due to my old power supply, even tho I got a new PSU Im still not thinking about it.
And to answer the second question, the card it ATI Radeon 9800Pro so it was made from ati, Im replacing the stock fan on the card. And I did not use Artic Silver, but I ordered some and I am going to use that instead of the silicon paste that came with the package.

Make sure you follow their directions exactly for applying the Arctic Silver. The secret is in the patience you have while applying it. You only need a very thin layer (to prevent oozing and other issues) and you need to be careful not to spill any. And don't forget to put some AS on the RAM chips, too! If they get too hot, your games will look funny.
I always use Arctic Silver for all heatsink-based installs. That way I'm always consistent and careful and I never have to worry about any problems caused by "other" thermal paste/grease. One less problem. ;)
Finally, to help prevent your 9800 from overheating, make sure it has plenty of airflow around it and to it. The best VGA cooler on the planet won't help if no cool air can get to it!

I have this problem too. But I've done all this stuff to try and fix it but nothing works.
But I haven't tried the arctic silver stuff yet. Is that the stuff ya use to stick the heat sinks to the chipsets?
Sorry, but I don't know much about computers.

Hi Stato. It's best not to post to old threads like this but to start your own.
That being said, yes Arctic Silver is a must. There are different types. If the heatsink clips on to the chip then you need thermal grease. If it does not have a way to clip on the chip then you need thermal adhesive.
Arctic Silver and other thermal grease/adhesives fill in the very small gaps in the mating surfaces to allow proper thermal transfer. Meaning the heat generated by the chip can better transfer out the heatsink and away from the chip. A must in todays components.
Arctic Silver is the trusted thermal grease/adhesive around here. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=Browse&Manufactory=1410
As stated by Saphalline make sure to follow the directions to apply it very carefully.

But I haven't tried the arctic silver stuff yet.Well then you haven't tried "all this stuff", have you?
Yes, please start your own thread. A lot of various problems can cause the same symptoms. There's no way of knowing your specific problem unless we start from scratch.

Sorry guys. I started my own thread before i posted in here. Didn't know I was doing bad :(
But yeah I used thermal paste when I stuck the heat sinks on.
p.s. thanks for the advice :)
