I'm looking for some help identifying a problem. I have a Compaq Presario R3000 which I love greatly. A few weeks ago she started scrolling down the screen at will, whenever. I can stop it by hitting the up arrow, Home key or Page Up key. Those actions will stop it for a few seconds or a much longer time, but it always comes back and scrolls down, at will, as if the down arrow keeps being activated. Can someone assist here or direct me to a source for a fix?
When I boot up, there is a series of beeps from 8 - 20 before it stops.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom
Are you using a mouse or the pad?
If pad have you tried to clean the scroll section, you'd be amazed how much gunge builds up.
Are you running XP?
If so have a look at the Event Viewer in Computer management for any Application errors.
It sounds Like you have a sticky key on the keyboard
The Beeps happen when a key is pressed and held down.
If you have another known good keyboard to try on the system give it a test
If it is a Stuck key.
They can be cleaned , But require a Bit of work.
It is best to scan the key layout before you pull it apart
Most keyboards have screws in them behind a few keys
You can pry out the keys BUT be carefull .

Thanks guys. I am using both wireless mouse and keyboard. It happens without the mouse hooked up, so I assume my problem is the sticky key. I appreciate the help
