Afer reloading win98 from my HP restore disk and configured DUN I no longer can access my ISP by means of the IE icon on my desktop, Instead I must access the dialup icon located in the control panel. This activates the DUN and allows me to logon after this I must click on the IE icon to bring up my browser.

Thanks

Try right clicking on internet explorier, get properties, click connections and make sure all your settings are right. Post back if this does not solve your problem.

Did your HP come with a network card (onboard or installed)...if so the default setting could be for the LAN or something other than dial.

No NIC installed, A program called Weatherbug was downloaded and installed right before problem occured. Dialup worked fine right after OS was loaded. I have run into this dialup problem before though where all the settings have been correct. But dialup just failed to be called up from the IE icon.

Thanks

As far as I know, Weatherbug by itself isn't a problem. But it is usually bundled with Gator (http://www.tom-cat.com/cgi-bin/spybase/spybase.cgi?view_records=1&name=^G|^G&re=1&sb=4&so=ascend&nh=5&mh=1), which you might want to steer clear of.
