My computer does not get past post. All I get is 2 beeps, pause, 2 beeps, pause, etc. I know it is failing an initialization error of some type, but without a post checker there are no specifics. The specifications for this particular mother (232) indicate that the board supports up to a 450 mhz p3 or 400 mhz p2. I have installed a 600 mhz p3. Which may be the problem. I suspect the motherboard is not recognizing the cpu, but I have seen other people disable the cpu check in bios to get the board to run a faster cpu. The problem is, I cannot get that far during startup.

I guess, my question is will this board support this cpu? This particular board is confusing because even the bar code identifier does not specifically identify the board type. The model N8U is the only thing that tells you what type of board is present but depending on where I get my information suggests that the board may support up to an 800 mhz cpu. So far, it looks like it does not so I may have answered my own question. Because the switch settings can only be set up to 400 mhz clock speed.

I would just like some professional input on this problem.

Thanks, Scott.

Troubleshooting BIOS Beep Codes (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/index.htm) might help.

2 beeps looks like AMI BIOS beep code for Parity circuit failure. That means either memory or motherboard problem. CPU problem would be 5 beeps.

Check the AMI section of the above link, it has good info and some troubleshooting info as well. You might also check the Award BIOS section, the link to "Other Beep Codes" might have something too. Without knowing what BIOS you have it might take some trial and error to figure it out.

Well, I know it is not a memory problem because I pulled it out of my other computer. It is an IBM Sdram 128 mb and it works fine in that machine. Well, I will have the motherboard checked because I purchased the systeme as is, so I would not be surprised that the MB is bad.

I have also spent a lot of time researching the bios beep codes at the site you mentioned. But will continue to pursue this until I am satisfied that the mb is bad. Thanks for info.
