I have recently been asked for advice on the following:- Windows 98 is installed successfully on the P.C. All the relevant drivers are loaded...e,g Soundcard, Modem, Graphics etc. Next day, or whenever, the machine is booted to find....NO drivers at all!! The HDD has been FDISK'd, Partitioned and formatted 3 times. A different Win 98 Installation cd has been used. Virus checker shows...nothing. Scandisk (Surface) reports no problem. I have suggested trying FDISK with the MBR switch. Has anyone heard of this problem?
Many thanks.

Hi there Buddytod
Not to sure about this but I think it could be because the battery on the Mobo is needing replaced. Others will confirm or reject this answer.

I think it sounds more like a BIOS problem...like it is not remembering what PnP devices are installed so when it gets to Windows it thinks they is all new devices....try booting into "Safe Mode" and see if the exixting devices still show up there.
Also when booting does the POST screen give any information, like "defaults loaded".
Does the time stay set?
Try changing tthe CMOS battery, especially if the time is not staying set.
