I was using a Logitech cordless mouse and kb but I didn't like it.

I uninstalled everything but some stuff was left behine. Went to Logitech website and followed the directions for deleting stuff in the registery.

Turned off the pc, hooked back up my old kb and mouse.. standard PS2 connections.

But.. now neither one work!>!>!?!?!

I am running winxp pro, amd64 FX53, Corsair RAM 3200.

If I clear the cmos, will that reset so that it will see the keyboard and mouse again?

I am stuck here.. sense I have no control with kb or the mouse... I can not log into my account... guess I should have turned that off before I rebooted the pc. DOH

Any help here would be appreciated.

I'm assuming they work at first during startup, but not once you boot into Windows?

"If I clear the cmos, will that reset so that it will see the keyboard and mouse again?"
No, this is a Windows problem.

If this were me, my 1st reaction would be to put the software back the way it was when it worked [by restoring the C: partition].
[Good idea to have a backup made when the old mouse and keyboard worked, and another with the new setup working, so you can choose to restore one or t'other.]
But I guess you probably don't have backups.
[Resolve now to investigate that possibility and set up such a system.]

So then you might use "Last good configuration" at startup, but you need to figure out whether that will put back both the configuration AND the files.

If that's a no-go, you could run a "repair" re-install of Windows with your old mouse and keyboard connected.

Are the ps2 keyboard and mouse working in BIOS setup? If so, put the ESCD to manual and reboot. If not, try resetting CMOS with a jumper if there is onr for your motherboard or pull the battery for a half hour along with a press of the power button after disconnecting the mains.

I don't see any need to reload or repair Windows when it is a hardware issue and not software related.

I also noticed some issues with IBM pc's after using usb keys and mice through a Google search. The ps2 ports become disabled and IBM's advice was to keep using usb mouse and keyboard... That's akin to saying, don't fix it if you don't have to,,, sheesh, how dumb!
