I have just accquired a Radeon 9250 Graphics card but it does not want to be fitted to my pc, I keep getting the blue screen or the system just hangs.

I have removed the previous cards drivers and installed the new one when the mathine first boots up after fitting the card I have even exchanged the card with the supplier as they thought it was a memory chip problem with the original card but no difference.

For info I am running Windows XP pro with sp2 and converted to NTFS, 196mb ram Jetway Ali J-542B mother board with AGP slot I upgraded the BIOS in October 2004 when I fitted a new 80 Gig hardrive. The previous card was an ATI Expert 98 RXL AGP 2X.

Anyone got any ideas? Maybe if I booted up in safe mode something would show up as all drivers installed are shown from what I can remember, but I cant remember how to boot into safe mode with NTFS, all help would be gratefully recieved.

Many Thanks

Derek

Well, the most likely reason is because your mobo has an AGP 2x slot, and the Radeon 9250 is an AGP 8x/4x vid card. Sometimes you can get the two different specs to work together, but in your case it appears not to work. If you want to continue to use your AGP slot, get a 4x only vid card or get a PCI vid card. Looking at your system specs, it doesn't look like you'll ever notice the difference between AGP and PCI.
