This is a strange one .

Been looking at my mates PC he has just acquired 2nd hand. It appears a good unit.

Anyway, this is what happens. It will switch on fine, boot up, and work perfectly. Then when you completely switch it of, and attempt to switch back on immediately, the Base unit turns on, lights come on, and the monitor shows an amber light, but nothing comes on the screen.

When I 1st came across this problem, I assumed all sorts of things, i.e. possible graphics issue, monitor issue etc .

After switching graphics cards and using another monitor it still did the same .

The issue been, it will not switch back on straight after a shutdown. However it will restart fine from Windows for example.

Then after a few goes, we've realised that you have to wait 5-6 minutes after a full shutdown, and then it will turn back on fine .

Does anyone have any idea why this might happen? Could it be a PSU fault?

Or a BIOS setting, I could not find anything that it was likely to be.

Any help would be great.

The cause may be a faulty PSU. Swapping it out will determine if it is.
