Welcome to the PC Guide Forums!! :D

Did they just randomly do this or did something change recently? It sounds to me like either a loose cable or the jumpers are incorrect. But otherwise your system boots into Windows just fine, right? Check the cables & jumpers for starters, and then give us more info about your computer.

Ok, first of all, don't use these kinds of products. Everything they do you can do better (if you know how) or they shouldn't be done at all. If your computer is really that bogged down and bloated, reinstalling Windows is actually your best solution. Windows collects crud over time, and sometimes strange problems are just the result of a computer that's been running for far too long without a break.

To fix this problem (if it can still be fixed) we need to know more about your system, both hardware and software. We can get to the bottom of this!

Agree that a clean or a repair installation installation might be a good approach once we can exclude a hardware problem.

Which version of Windows is this.
...

But my cd drive power light keeps blinking. Try disconnecting both opticals - check how the system works.

Then add back each one on its own and see if the system works.
...

my p.c showing 3 hardrives
Is this in the MMC or in My Computer and are they all "identical" and what drive letters do they have. Do you see three HDDs in Disk Management (if using Win2K/XP by entering diskmgmt.msc in the run box).
...

Can i create a drive image?
Probably. Try ImageForWindows (includes ImageForDOS) or BootIt-NG from http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ - all the utilities are fully functional trialware.

See http://tinyurl.com/8n5nr

Where it says:
"Code 39
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Recommended resolution
Reasons for this error include a driver that is not present; a binary file that is corrupted; a file I/O problem, or a driver that references an entry point in another binary file that could not be loaded.
Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.
On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard."

I would still try the optical drives one at a time to try to identify any hardware problems before trying software fixes - if you havent already done so.

There is a registry patch that may fix this for WinXP in the download www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip Use it at your own risk and note that one may need to reinstall any CD burning software after merging its contents into the registry.

More on the patch and fix at:
