Hi all,
I have an freecom external dual layer burner that shows empty when I insert blank dual layer disks.
Any ideas?
My system specs are Pentium 4 2GHz, 512 Mb of RAM and the operating system is XP.
Thanks.

Did you try reinstalling the drivers?
And Windows does see it in My Computer, right?

I used device manger to uninstall the device and rebooted, still showing me there is nothing in the tray.
Yes, everything is okay in my computer.

Do you have suitable [dual layer] burning software installed?

Since that software was installed, have you re-run a Windows "repair" re-installation?
I once did that and found that Windows "setup.exe" had overwritten the updated copy of a Windows system file that the Hewlett Packard CD-RW software had installed over the Windows version.
I can't remember the symptom, but it was something like yours.
To fix it I had to uninstall & reinstall the HP CD burning software.
The key was the Windows system file.
Drive manufacturers version or Windows version?
With the Windows version in place the burning software doesn't work. :(
That's where backups of C: are great.
If you only make backups when all's well, then when anything goes wrong with the software you just restore a working setup and "bingo", everything works just like it did when made.
