I have had my PC for about two years now but a few days ago I turned it on and it said that the OS cannot be found. I tried using the recovery discs to restore it to the original state but I still got the same message.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I haven't had to use it yet so I cannot verify it but I saw these instructions recently. Plus we don't know anything about your operating system and other specs But give it a go
boot up with start up disk
choose no cd rom support
at a: change to c:
then c:\windows\command
then c:scanreg /restore leave space between scanreg & /restore

Hello kigmed,
Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!
Well, my guess at this point would be either a virus or you have a bad sector on your HDD or, a chance it could perhaps be your MB battery.
Is this a Dell or Compaq?
Do you run Anti Virus?
Cannot remember with these proprietary machines if you can use a bootdisk where you would be able to run a scandisk utility and check out the HDD.

Hi Kig:
Did you check your CMOS to make sure that settings haven't been disrupted??
