Help? I have an Intel computer 366id. Suddenly the other day the mouse dissapeared on screen. Then my colors got stuck in 16 bit. I looked in the property file for the mouse and it told me the port 2 was missing to enter the reboot disc that came with the computer. Well I restarted the computer and entered the reboot disc. I chose option 2 and it told me (after loading files) to reboot the computer. I rebooted and now the screen is a big blurry mess. I can't read anything. The only thing I can do is get it into safe mode. What can I do to get this thing back to normal..or is it beyond repair?

Any help you can give would be truly appreciated.

The very first thing I would do would to be, if you had a bootable CD-ROM or floppy disk with an up-to-date virus scanner already, to do a system scan while booted from the CD or floppy. The symptoms are different, but the effect is essentially the same as what I was afflicted with at the end of March when I got zapped by the Chernobyl virus; I could only boot to Safe Mode because most of the key system files had been infected by the virus.
If you _do_ have a major-league virus, you may have no option but to back up whatever uninfected data (non-executable) files you can, re-format the drive and re-install your OS.

If your system is virus-free (clean), my next thought would be that one or more of your driver files (possibly your video drivers) have somehow been corrupted. I haven't tried it before, but if this turns out to be the case, you might try resetting your video to 640 x 480 x 16 mode in Safe Mode, then rebooting to Normal (assuming you use Win9x). If this works, you can then try reinstalling your video drivers.
