ok, I'm trying to update my BIOS (Award) and I'm running into a problem. I have XP, so I made a boot floppy, extracted the update to the floppy and restarted. It starts to run the update and ask me if I want to go, then it says it can't find the BIOS Hook or somethign like that.... any ideas? The BIOS is called Greenland 3.08.

that's all the info I can think of, but if you need somethign else just say....

What is the motherboard that you have? My guess is that you may be using the wrong flash utility.

I have a TriGem Lomita MB. Dunno if that helps but that's all I can find out....

This wouldn't be an HP Pavilion or the like would it? Well anyway before I would flash the bios I would have to have more specific info about the board that I was doing the flash on. You can make a door stop out of your computer by messing up the bios.

A word of caution...
Unless your trying to fix a known problem the BIOS update fixes, you should not update the BIOS. The updates clearly state what they fix. If it aint broke don't fix it.

So what you have to do (if you haven't all ready) is go to the Hp site and get the flash program and your bios upgrade there if there is one. I looked for a bios upgrade for one I had that wouldn't see a 40gig HDD that I wanted to use. I found a message from Hp while looking that said that they would not be doing any bios up grade because technology was moving to fast and it wasn't worth the time and effort to do any. In other words they were saying buy a new computer if you want to have a bigger HDD. (my little stab at Hp) :p
