Comp not working

My daughter's comp quit working so I brought it home, opened it up, plugged it in and it booted up. So I ran it for a couple of days, turned it on and off a few dozen times and gave it back to her.

Now it's not working again.

I checked the power supply and it seems OK.

The HD is starting to boot up but nothing happens from there.

What next? Or is that too broad a question.

If it is working at your house and not at hers it could be the power in her house.

Try refreshing all connections to the motherboard including plugs and memory. Also do the drives plugs. Try to boot. If no, try a boot floppy with the HDD disconnected.

Go to BIOS if you can and see if it detects the harddrive.

Test the HDD in another pc if possible as a slave. Run a thourough scandisk on it.

You don't mention any post beeps or if it may be just the display either. We could use more details.

Reseat cards, no help.

I tried the video card and HD in another comp.

I got a splash screen but it wouldn't bootup on the other comp.

I get no splash screen on comp I'm having trouble with.

No "post" beeps.
