Hi, My name is Alexandre, Brazil.
The programs AutoCad R12/R13 for DOS and others, the Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition for DOS and other old games for DOS, can be installed and run from a SATA Hard Disk without problems, installed directly from Win98 or Prompt or only in a IDE Hard Disk? Thanks...
Alexandre.

Hi, how are you?
The question is about old programs and games. If I can insatall and run from sata hard disks. Have programs and games that supports only IDE installations.
Thanks...

Generally, if you run/install a DOS app from the command prompt within Windows, and if Windows can see the SATA hard drive, then it will work. However, with software that old, you can never be 100% certain. This stuff isn't always fully compatible, no matter how good the DOS emulation is.

I would say the main test is whether a DOS-based boot floppy can see your SATA hdd such that you can use fdisk for example. Some systems will have a BIOS that makes the drive visible - but others will only make it visible from within Windows once specific drivers have been installed.
The latter is often the case with SATAs on a PCI card in which case your BIOS would also need to support booting a SCSI device for you to be able to install any operating system onto it.
