Could any of the members explain why i cannot receive colour while recording with a video capture card . i can record okay but the video is
never in colour always in black and white . i,am using a cheap capture card
by phillips in the dazzle series.

Are you by any chance using an S-Video cable to input the video? S-Video transfers the signal seperated into its luminance/chrominance components, which is sort of like brightness/color. There could be a chance your cable is bad and that might give you a black and white picture.
If you're using a composite (yellow "RCA" jack) or a screw-on coax connection... the signal is all packed onto one cable, so there is no way to lose the color in the transfer. In this case it would be a software setting, or maybe even a bad card (in that it can't seperate the components that were all packed onto that single cable)
