Well to start i just upgraded to an AMD Athlon 64 and a new EPOX Ultra board(i think its a 9385J or something close to that) anyway this is my first mobo with SATA capabilities. So my question is this: Can I run a new sata150 hd and use my old ata133 as a back up drive? or for extra storage. Is this possible? I (think I)know that sata "killed" the master/slave feature but i was wondering if this was possible in some configuration. Thanks all.

The answer is yes you can run the SATA as your main and the IDE for storage.

SATA ports killed master/slave in the sense that you don't need to worry about it with SATA. But SATA ports are extra, in addition to the old IDE channels. You don't need to worry about problems using them all together with the latest chipsets.
