Hey guy's,

day b4 yesterday, i received a faulty Seagate 20gb ST32001A, after inspecting the circuit board (Controller) i noticed there is this 1 IDE connector pin that has broken, so i thought i just have to connect the broken pin back, later i got the solder running & without much difficulty i ended soldering the pin back, ready to go, then i plugged in the power cable, fixed the jumper setting's & plugged in the IDE cable properly, turned the system on, eventually the HD got detected with it's true configuration, then i popped in win98 startup disk & ran fdisk to install partition's, problem is while i install partitions all partition's are created successfully without any errors, But when i exit fdisk & re-run fdisk all the partition's are somehow erased & neither i can format the partitioned drives.

Any help will surely b appreciated. :)

Regards

A drive with a broken pin is usually meant for the trash heap. Unless money is very precious it's never worth your time to do this. A 20 Gb drive has to be old as they are no longer on the market. You could try testing the drive with seatools which will be found on the seagte web site.
