Does anyone know where I might find a copy of the manuals for my Gateway Solo 1450? I do not need the manual that gateway gives you, the owner's manual, but more of one that lists all the disassembly instructions and really detailed stuff like that..do they even make those?

I'm basically trying to turn it into a car computer and I wanna rewire and move some stuff, so I need to know how to take it apart...

Why don't you just buy a cigarette lighter socket power supply for your laqptop?

Just what do you need to 'move' and 'rewire'?

I have a Toshiba that is used for GPS navigation and have not needed to do what you describe.

I don't think you're going to find anything specific to the notebook in question...however, you might want to have a look here:

I need to move the screen because I want to install it into the console where my radio is currently, but I want to hide the computer under the seat or something....I'm also gonna put a DVD drive into the console....

You don't have much distance allowed with the cabling of devices to the motherboard. I'm not sure what they've got in the laptops, but the connections might be different than a desktop unit. 36" is about the max for EIDE cables with a desktop...

Aditionally, mounting the computer rigidly under the seat would subject it to more vibration and shock than riding on the seat. I'm not sure the drive in the laptop could be subjected to that and survive.

where would you put the computer then? It cannot just ride on the seat because I carry passengers regularly....and I don't want to see it, that's why I want to put the screen and the drive only in the console....

P.S. I have some more questions but I'll start a new thread...
