You would need a motherboard that supports PCIe and has the appropriate slots on it.

Welcome to the PCGuide! First of, PCI and PCIe are not compatible! PCI is the oldest bus form out there. AGP is faster than PCI, but PCIe rocks! It has 4 times the bandwith as AGP. Does your pc have PCIe? Or are you limited to PCI. If your not sure, give us your computer model number and we can look for you.

Hockey Puck, ;)
ISA is older than pci
pci is older than agp
agp is older than pci-e

I don't know if there was anything prior to ISA.

I think I still have an ISA video card kicking around. It's a whopping 2 meg IIRC... :o I also have a 4mb pci card for diagnostics or for a dual display when I'm in the mood.

The earliest bus was just a bundle of wires.

Here are the specs for your PC (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&lang=en&cc=us&product=470506&dlc=en&docname=c00389438)

The graphics card that you need to buy is a PCI-E (PCI Express)

Asus motherboard!!!

Base processor Pentium D 820 duel-core!!!

A media center PC with on-board graphics???

Leave it to HP to cripple a great PC with crummy graphics.

I was just metioning the slots that are currently on the market. As far as I know you can't buy a new pc with an isa slot.

This P4 Socket 478 motherboard (http://www.mbx.com/p/supermicro/p4sca/) has 4 PCI and 3 ISA expansion slots

While I admit that ISA and VESA are older, I have to agree with hockey man here. No new mobo for a new system should have ISA or anything older than PCI. Socket 478 is dead for a new system.

Heck, I'm already getting tired of PCI. When are we moving to PCIe-only mobo's?
