I had a Maxtor 40 gig hard drive added to my vaio 522ds it worked fine.
I then had to reformate due to a virus and now it is not recognized. Where should I look to fix this ?

Grab the Maxtor diagnostics (PowerMax) from here (http://www.maxtor.com/Maxtorhome.htm). If that doesn't recognise it then look into warranty replacement.
