I have IBM 600E, Windows 98. Just purchased new battery. I'm conditioning battery by cycling it five times (as per seller). How do I discharge it FAST??? I've searched for details in manual, support, etc. but NO details. I turned off power save, etc. but it is taking 10+ hours. I do see some humor in this complaint. Help. Thanks.
I use the DVD player (Movie) in my laptop to drain the Battery down
If you don't have that. How about using the CD to play something.
Or use one of the Burn in programs to keep the system running a full speed to drain it down

1) Make a folder called temp
2) Disable ALL power saving features in windows and in the bios.
3) Go to acommand prompt and create the following batch file.
@ echo off
cls
echo Draining Battery........
:start
cd\
md temp
cd temp
copy c:\windows\options\cabs\*.* >nul
cd\
deltree /y c:\temp>nul
go start
4) Run the batch file and wait for the drive activity to drain the battery. If you want to play a movie or music CD at the same time that will also help.

Thanks for all suggestions. I will refresh my feeble skills and try the program. In the meantime, I have run a CD, turned up backlight, etc.
