Hi Guys/Gals
I recently replaced the hardrive in my PC. I used the 3 'master discs' supplied when I originally bought the pc. These CDs included windows98se and other stuff on it and basically I ended up with a computer that was in 'factory condition' as when I originally bought it.
I have a problem.
I bought a joystick/yoke for use with msflight sim 2004. The driver has installed ok but the pc is not recognising the joystick. I looked at 'game controls' and it says that it is 'not connected'.
I have tried the joystick on another computer and it works ok.

I have tried to install the device several times with no luck. On one attempt I was asked to insert my copy of windows 98. This I cannot do because windows is part of the 'master discs' and not a stand alone CD.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
John

If it's a USB joystick, then sometimes just restarting the computer will fix things.
If that does not work, then make sure that the USB controller(s) is(are) enabled in BIOS.
If that's ok, then check in Device Manager for any USB problems.
If none, then try a different USB slot.
If no luck, then your USB hub may be bad. You can install a USB PCI controller card to work around this.

If it connects to your sound card's gameport, then make sure that the sound card's gameport/game device/joystick are listed in Device Manager, and they have no problems.
If those are ok, then your sound card's gameport may be bad. See if it works with a different known working sound card installed on your system.

Hi Ski
I am pretty much a beginner to this stuff. I am not showing any problems in the device manager. I am under guarantee so I think I will take it to the shop and let them look at it.
