Ok every one. I did have a Lexmark z22 printer and one day it started acting funny. it would print a few lines and just stop printing and the lights would start blinking on the Printer. Got a hold of tec suport and they said the printer was fine it was some thing on my PC.. I figured what the heck go by a new printer. I by the new printer another lexmark this time a Z45se.. Except this one is used vie a USB Port unlike the last one wich was a paralel port. Get the new printer hom hook it up and would you beleave it does the same thing. I have all the updated drivers for this printer. Once agine i get a hold of lex mark and they guid me through the printer self test it does fine but once i got to print from the PC it messes up. I have bought brandnew USB Cabels and still get the same thing. And Lexmark agine says its some thing on my PC. I have run misconfig on the PC and shut every thing down but windows incase there was a conflect with other software and have deleted the printer and drivers and reinstaled. Does any one have any advice ? Thanks in advance Jimbo.

I am running a HP 511w PC with windows XP Home Service pack 2..

Do you recall if the problem started immediately after installing SP-2?

I`v had SP 2 on here almost a year now. The one printer is Bran new and the other one is almost 3 years old. The old one started doing it about 3 months ago and the new one did it right out of the box. :( I did how ever notice after i turn the PC on It comes up as Found new hard wear and down loads the drivers for the New Printer the Z45se. I turned off the PC and once agine when i turn it on it says found new hard wear and once agine redown loads the drivers.

Did the new printer come with a disc? Did you try the "I have disc" option?
Be patient, the more knowledgeable folks on this site will figure it out. Give them a chance.

It did come with the disk. But it did not have the driver for Windows XP so i got a hold of Lexmark and got the driver for windows xp. This dang thing is about to have me pull my hair out what little i have left. lol

Uninstall SP-2, and see if that helps.

Select the option to print directly w/o spooling, or get into services and stop and start the print spooler !!

Hey Jimbo

Just so you know, I just bought a lexmark not too long ago myself. The alignment mechanism went bad the first 2 months we had it. Lexmark told me the same garbage.

So...I guess the message here may be to stay away...lol

Get this I got a hold of lexmark about trying to get my Cash back or get an exchange. They asked for my Model number serial number and such. I just got an email back saying We are sorry to hear that your Printer was past its Warenty. What the heck is up with that I bought it 2 weeks ago and there saying its past its warenty. LOL No More lex mark for me. I did deleate all the soft ware got rid of all the drivers. I reinstaled it agine just to make sure it was defective i got it to print a few pages fine turned of the Printer rebooted the PC and tried printing with it agine and it messed up printed a few lines and just stoped and the lights on the thing started blinking. I went into printing prefrencies for the printer and on the ink level indacater* Forgive the spelling. lol It had a Triangle shaded in Yellow with a ! in the middle. So i guess that confermed it that it is defective. Any ideas on what that my mean ?

just to let you know, I looked up their Z45SE and according to their web site, it's discontinued. that would be why they think it's past warranty. you may want to bring up that issue with them, but the far more likely option will be to go to the place you bought it from and ask for a refund. if they dont' give it to you, ask for a manager and raise hell about the fact that they sold you a printer that has no warranty because it is discontinued by the manufacturer. they will likely at the very least let you exchange it for a different printer. a non-lexmark printer.

Ya do exactly what Orion said, make a fuss out of things and they will definitely get the printer exchanged or would refund your money back or threaten them to consumer court !!
