So, my act of typing is making my ram usage spike (i have the task manager open). it really feels like it's working harder than it should. it's an amd 64 3.2 with 1gig ram, raedeon vid card, etc. the mouse and keyboard are microsoft. this is only happens when i'm typing. but I believe the problem is something eating my ram, because i can't really do much in world of warcraft for the lag, it keeps doing things long after i let go of keys. i've already virus updated and scanned the snot outta my comp, so i've no ideas left. clearly sinc ei'm typign to you, i can type, however havin gmusic on while typing makes everything freeze. or just running too many things now, it seems to freeze. i'm open to any tips!

How about running "Process Explorer" at the same time [tile the two windows] and seeing which process is using all the %CPU time as you type?

See and download it from HERE (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/ProcessExplorer.mspx).
Here is that portion of the total processes on my PC which are running under "Explorer.exe" with %CPU usage figures shown.

...And also the "System" processes...

...And the remainder at the top of the list...
Notice the %CPU idle.

Turn off MSN and see if it continues...

hey guys, thanks so much for bearing with me. i turned off msn adn it's still happening. i guess our big issue, is we're both world of warcraft NUTS, and we ca'nt play becasue if we go to turn our char, it keeps spinning after we take our finger off the arrow key. it's the same idea out of game. the typing is very laggy, especially the backspacing. we're both stumped with this. i keep running virus updates and checks (spyware too of course) and nothings changing.....merry christmas :)

What spyware apps have you run? You should post a Hijackthis log for review.

For spyware we use spybot s&d, for virus we use the newest norton.
Please post a HijackThis log...Norton is not able (no single program is, these days) to handle all threats.
I am leaning toward, and I think Classic is too, a keylogger...since the obvious app (MSN) was off and the spikes still occur, makes this more likely, especially if it is a general keylogger (one that works system wide, as opposed to being tied to just one app).

Looks like you're going to be forced to post a new thread in the "Applications and Security" section, asking to have your software checked for infection and including your HJT log.
