I just got a new monitor and for some reason my mouse has been acting slow.

I've already made sure I have all the updated drivers for my graphics card (http://www.google.com/search?complete=1&hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=nvidia+geforce+fx+5200&spell=1).
I've already made sure I have the correct chipset (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-18454-2&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=391278&os=228) for my board. I'm running a Compaq Presario S6030NX (http://www.ny-dev.com/forums/f215/compaq-presario-s6030nx-224/?highlight=compaq)

and i just bought this monitor (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?Sku=H94-1920)

with an intellimouse 1.1a; no USB

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the pointer moves slowly across the screen, then increase the pointer speed.
If there is a lag period between when you move the mouse and when the pointer starts to move on the screen, then see if the same problem happens in Safe mode. If so, then try different video card drivers. If the problem does not happen in Safe mode, then do a clean boot to find the cause.

Thanks for the reply.

I've actually tried all of the above.

And? What were the results, if any? No changes?

You didn't clarify on what you mean by 'acting slow' Is it a hesitation or just takes a lot of mouse movement per cursor distance covered?

All of the above were my first steps in troubleshooting before i wrote the post.

If i were to explain the movement, i would explain it as like the way movies in claymation move; if you know what i mean.

Mite be worth checking out the Tech support and FaQ`s for the monitor, Compaq and mouse.

Also try uninstalling the driver for the mouse.
