I have connected a new serial mouse onto my windows Pc. XP install the proper driver and shows device working properly. When i move the mouse the cursor moves around but when i click the button, it selects nothing. Both the left and right buttons are not working. Surprisingly when i take it to the service center for troubleshooting everything works fine.

See if the problem happens in Safe mode.
If not, then do a clean boot to troubleshoot the problem.

If the problem happens in Safe mode, then try a different serial mouse. If the problem continues, then the serial port may be bad.
