 On my Acer laptop, when typing, the keys don't work sometimes and it looks as if you cannot type or spell. I have tried adjusting the settings but it doesn't help that much. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It has just came out of warranty, OF COURSE. Thanks

What model?
My suggestions is to try booting to a Live Linux (Knoppix is good) distro and see if the problem still occurs. That kind of behaviour can also be linked to keyloggers being installed on your system (or other malware)...

I don't really know how to boot to Linux. Malware---is that some type of spyware. I do have a spyware program already BUT I am thinking of purchasing a new one. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

Make a Knoppix Linux Live CD (http://www.knoppix.org/), and boot from that to load and run Knoppix.
If you find you can then type just fine, it means there is nothing wrong with your laptops hardware; it's the Windows environment that's at fault.
