I have a new PC , running VISTA, and want to use my multi-function printer. My old PC died, and I like my X 5150. I downloaded the VISTA driver supplied by Lexmark, and plugged in my X 5150. It prints great, but I can not access the scanner or any other functions of the 5150. The only Icon on my desk top is the Lexmark solution center. No control panel; nothing else. Anyone else have this problem? This senior citizen is "digitally Challenged", therefore I would appreciate any help I can get.

Same problem, I finally got the driver and was able to print some. Now I can't scan. Contacted Lexmark and they gave me instructions to reinstall from disk, now can't print or scan! Let me know if you find a solution.

To MAMAKAY- I got a "sweet" message from Lexmark today, saying that they have their engineers working on a solution, and they will send me an E-mail with insrtuctions as soon as a solution is worked out. I'm waiting!
I tried to install from disk yesterday, and it gunked up my computer. Then I uninstalled, and reverted back to a previous restore point. Then I reinstalled the VISTA download, and I can now print again, but still have no other function. There is no control center for the multi-purpose X 5150, but if you click a print button on the computer, it goes right to it. Sometimes I have to re-boot in order to print more than one item, though.

Copy of email received yesterday. I am going to reinstall the printer driver and hopefully will be able to print at least some. Had the same problem with only printing one page and then had to restart.

mamakay,

The workaround Lexmark is recommending is called a "pull" likely using the Twain driver. The PC is then requesting the file.

The software issue causes a block of the scanned file when it is "push"-ed from the scanner to Vista, possibly due to permissions issues in Vista.

Thanks, mamakay.
I tried it, and it works. But, it is a far cry from the scanning and picture printing capability of the x 5150.
I've heard nothing from Lexmark. Looks like they would have sent me the same work-around they sent you.

Has a note you should look at, it has been changed in the last few days.

Thanks.
Looks like they are trying to force us into to buying a new scanner.
