I own a 8-in-1 USB card reader and works fine with the compatible memory cards, i bought it for my 512mb memory stick pro duo to transfer data onto it, and it works great. But i recently bought a 2gb which fits into the reader but once i try to start accessing and transferring files the computer will crash and either display the message "The paramter is incorrect" or "Error. The path is too deep".

Help please...

Did you format the new card yet?

Older card readers are notorious for incompatibilities. I have one that will read xD cards but not xD type M. Found this out after getting a bigger card for my camera. Wish I would have known this from the start...

With both, card readers and flash cards becoming mass produced these days, it's difficult to know which one is at fault without trying one or the other in another pc. You can check brands and specs, but it still comes down to a process of elimination at times.

Hmmm...Fruss may be on to something. My Olympus camera needs a firmware upgrade (camera needs to be sent to Olympus to do this) to be able to read the 512 and larger xD cards.

I don't know what the internals look like for the card readers, but perhaps they have firmware limitations...especially, if a couple of years old.

I wonder if the firmware is upgradeable on the reader??
