I have/had a Medeon Life notebook ( no warranty) which I used without any complaints for 4 years. Recently it started overheating and shutting down, it was getting so hot that I couldn't even touch it on the bottom.

I thought I'd open and clean it up, thinking there was a lot of dust inside to be the reason to overheating. I carefully opened it but there wasn't much dust at all, so after cleaning I thought I put it back together as it was, but now it just doesn't start up

When I push the start button the power indicator blinks a couple of times and nothing happens. As I keep holding the button down all the indicators just keep on blinking but nothings starts up. I checked all the connectors on the motherboard - they are connected as they were in their original state.

I have no clue what have I done wrong? Could anybody knowledgeable in hardware advise on the reason why I can't fire it up ?

There's also the battery which still lights orange (charging) when I plug in the adapter. But after pressing start button even that stops burning. I don't know if this is relevant - the battery is as good as dead. I've always been using it with adapter only (otherwise it dies after 4 mins). But I can't start it with adapter either ((

Please help me if you can!

I hate to say it, but a 4-year-old laptop isn't worth the bother anymore. :( 4 years is a darn good run for any laptop, and the cost of replacement parts outside of warranty is often so high that a new laptop is cheaper!

Although I agree with Saphalline, there are a few things you can do to try and get it running again.

You said you already did, but triple check the connections, paying close attention to the CPU fan. Also make sure the CPU fan is actually working.

Reset the ram. Often times a blinking light means the ram is not seated properly.

If you have one, try another power adapter.

Yeah, I got interrupted and forgot the "help" part, didn't I? :p I hate it when that happens!
