does anyone know where i would be able to find a driver for an Nvidia Geforce Go 6150. i just reinstalled my laptop (hp tx1110us) with XP, and nowhere on HP's site is a driver for that listed for XP. plenty of Vista support, none for XP.

ironic?

any help would be appreciated.

Here (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us) you go. :)

Always get drivers from the manufacturer of the video card whenever possible.

Hp doesn't have XP drivers for it at all do they...

You can try option#2 in the link. I don't know if it will do you any good but it's worth a shot.

I know it doesn't do you any good now, but you should always double check to make sure XP drivers are available for your system before wiping vista and installing XP. Do you have a backup of vista? You may have to end up going back to it. :(

yeah, i do. i didn't go straight from Vista to Xp, there were a couple Linux distros in between. i installed XP once in there too, and didn't have this problem, i dont' understand why. i'll see if anything comes up..

Here (http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_8.26_11.09.html).

The GeForce Go 6150 is not a GPU. It's onboard video. You have to look in the NForce section.

i downloaded and installed the one that saph recommended. that solved my problems with my ethernet controller and smbus, but still leaves my video controller unknown in the device manager.....

i also don't have any audio either....

any ideas?

Oh! It's one of those new Vista-oriented tablets! Yeah, that would be why it had to be hacked to install WinXP!

Those devices aren't intended to be used with WinXP. Thus the warning on NVidia's driver download page:

The GeForce Go mobile GPU use drivers that have been customized to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior that are normally found in notebooks. The reference desktop graphic drivers that are provided by NVIDIA on our driver downloads page do not include these custom features.

In other words, if the reference driver doesn't work and the manufacturer doesn't provide a driver, what you're doing is not supported! Good thing you found a guide and some people willing to reverse engineer the hardware and provide 3rd-party drivers! Otherwise you would have been SOL.
