hello everyone - need some help pls - when booting the system i get the message : memory failure. running win 98. system goes through the initial start up procedure and then displays the message: memory failure- any ideas, thank you.

Its not clear to me when you get the Memory Failure message. Does your system boot up and show it counting through the memory with the memory test? and then does it splash up the Windows98 startup screen and then you get the Memory Failure message?

If you get it when Win98 starts, then it might be that Virtual Memory is not configured right or the file that it uses for virtual memory is corrupt or the disk is not working right in some way. Could even be a memory driver in your config.sys that is not configured properly or is corrupt.

I would recommend you reboot and press and hold the Ctrl key until you get a menu. Then choose the option to startup in single step mode and do that until you see how far you get.

If you are getting the memory error at the very beginning when it normally shows the memory counter, then you probably need to reseat your memory chips and see if that makes a difference.
