I click on shut down in the shut down menu, and all the damn thing does is restart. Can someone tell me why and what I can do to fix it?

Before anyone can even start to help, you will need to provide more information. Tell us all of the details of your system, did the problem start suddenly, what operating system, the more information you provide the more likely someone can point you in the right direction. Have you looked through the rest of the messagese for problems similar to your? I am sure there is a thread with the same problem on this board.

There is a thread with the same problem on this board, and the consensus was that you should download the shutdown patch available from microsoft's windows updates. Find that thread, and you will see the link to it.
