Was trying to burn a data DVD, on a dvd with 4.7gb capacity. The file size is 4.5gb. Am using Nero and have an lg dvd rw. Why do i get the message that the dvd do not have enough to burn the files.

In nero when i get the interface to add the files, the limit is on 4.5gb max...am confused...

You might be able to allow overburning for a small excess.

The capacity limit could I suppose be due to a GB versus GiB size issue.

yes i also get that same problem. but honestly i didnt mind it... i backup movies on the dvds so space doesnt matter. I thought it was the dvd blank goes up to 4500MB

Wats GiB?
sorry if i butt-in...

Wats GiB?

Billions of bytes can be represented in one of two ways: as gigabytes (SI notation) or as gibibytes (binary notation). There are approx 1.074 GB in 1.0 GiB.

The other thing to remember is that there is a certain amount of 'overhead' involved in burning a disk (data or otherwise), so if you have close to the maximum rated capacity of the disk in data to put on it, then there is not enough room to finalize the disk or any of the other 'housekeeping' tasks that involve the use of disk space...
