Sounds like a failed burn but some more info would be nice? Which are the SCSI drives and what were you attempting when the error message appeared and is it a windows error or an application error?

Thanks for the reply:

I can burn data and music fine. I tried 3 different DVD creator programs(Roxio-TMPg DVD author and WMP) and got the same error msg each time. The only drive on this machine is an SATA 80gb-there are no slave drives-could that be it. It stops before putting anything on the disc at all-doesn't even write the lead-ins. I'm really stumped-I think the writer is fine. It's been years since I made any DVD's and have forgot most of it.

Thanks,

Yeah, it's not even properly communicating with the device.

Since you can burn music and data just fine, it can't be a driver issue. Therefore, it must be an issue with the software you're using. Not surprising really, considering those apps you listed are pretty sucky when it comes to video-based DVD creation.

Do you have any other software you can use? What software did you use years ago when you last made a video-based DVD?
