Hi.
Welcome to the forums!!!
:)
Does the drive read any other disc?
If it does, then the disc is the problem.
If the drive does not read any other discs, then the drive could have failed.
Also, what kind of disc?
CD?
DVD?
I have had clients trying to install or otherwise run things from a DVD-ROM, using their CD-ROM drive.
DVD-ROM's will never read in a CD-ROM drive, and many games these days are released on DVD-ROM, so this is something to check and be very sure of.

Yes. A DVD-ROM drive will read BOTH CD-ROM's and DVD-ROM's.
A CD-ROM drive, however, will NOT read DVD-ROM's.
I would recommend you buy a DVD-writer drive, as they are very cheap these days, and this will give you the ability to burn DVD-R's too.
:)
You're not the first to be caught by this issue, as I said in my last post - I have had lots of client trip up in exactly the same way as you have!

Any given Optical Drive can do everything at its maximum rated level and below, as follows:
1. DVD Re-Write.
2. DVD Record.
3. DVD Read.
-------------------
4. CD Re-Write
5. CD Record.
6 CD Read.

All I ask in return, is that you stick around here on the forums.
These forums are a friendly place to learn, and any member who gets out of line is dealt to by the moderators very quickly, so there will be no flame-wars etc here.
Any other questions you may have, someone here is bound to be able to help, and you may well be able to help someone else!
This is beauty of forums - everyone has something to share with the others.
Good luck, and thanks for posting back that the problem is solved - many do not, and the rest of us simply don't know if they have had any luck or not!!!
