I'm tryin to send files to my roomate threw trillian,msn and mirc. but the files seem to be to big(6-8 gigs). Is it possible I mount the other hard drive to my computers desktop and dump the files that way?

u can put it it on a dvd or cd if u hv a dvd rewriter or put it on flash drive(usb)

The easiest way would be to get yourself an ezternal USB drive enclosure, pop the drive with rhe files into it and then hook it up to the other machine.

You can simply use MS File-sharing if the two PCs are already networked togther on a LAN or else by directly connecting them using an ethernet cross-over cable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_crossover_cable).
