Hi everyone.
I'm thinking of buying Dell Inspirion 1525 with free DOS on it and would like to install Win XP. Is it possible to install XP (i heard about some problems with SATA disks) and where can I find drivers?
Is it true that win xp drivers for Inspirion 1520 work also fo 1525?
I really don't like Vista and I would like to buy this laptop.

I doubt it but only Dell would know for sure. You're probably aware that Dell provide Drivers for XP and Vista for the 1520 but only the ones for Vista for the 1525 (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1525&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=) and which is probably why you posed your question in the first place.

If you want a new Dell Laptop with WinXP have a look at the Business Models (http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/notebooks?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&~ck=ic), many of which have the option to have WinXP pre-installed. What is on offer will vary from time to time and from country to country.

And if you are in contact with Dell - give them grief about not supplying drivers for the model you wanted. Every little helps to push for widening support for XP. They have already backtracked a long way from their position a year ago.

It works fine I have install XP and Vista on the same model a couple of months back for 3laptop . I made it dual Boot.
