Without more information on your hardware, what you did, what happened and what "slow" means to you in this context, I couldn't begin to say, sorry... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Did I read that right? Did it say disk is 31% fragmented? I would guess clean format of drive would fix that, but if it is that fragmented then I would guess that would be a problem, run disk defrag. Also, is it slow as can be on the internet, or in any application?

Have you been into the BIOS? Are internal and external caching enabled? if not enable them. Check video pallette snoop. Disable it. You might even set BIOS defaults, then go back and reset the hard drive and floopy info, leave everything else alone, except for disabling COM2 (2F8) if it's already disabled. If it has an option to set Performance Defaults, use that one instead.

Check out my site posted below and look for the BIOS Survival Guide, look through it and compare your settings to their recommendations. See if you find anything out of order. Take a look at the other BIOS sites too, a couple have very good info.

Also check the Performance tab in Device Manager and see if it says MS-DOS Compatibility Mode.

Is this system using a PCI video card or AGP? How much memory and what type?

And scandisk and defrag that puppy till it begs for mercy!
