Ok, here's my situation: I put together what I thought would be a kick-ass machine. I used the AMD T-bird 800MHz proc, Asus A7V mobo, IBM ATA-100 HD, Asus V-7700 GeForce2 GTS 32MB videocard, 128MB generic PC-133 RAM and Turtle Beach Montego Quadzilla soundcard. i updated the BIOS on the mobo and got the latest drivers for the GeForce2. but still I can't get any 3D games to run...i can't even install Superbike 2000. I've tried everything i can think of and nothing works.
I went into DxDiagnosis and under the Display tab it says "The file anvdsp.drv is uncertified, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a certified driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device." But I just got the newest driver from Asus's website. Also, in the System Information under the Display section there is a listing for a driver called "asusnv9x.inf" and it says Driver Not Installed. If i can find this driver somewhere, how can i install it?

I'm also thinking maybe the memory is the problem but i don't know of any way to test it. Has anybody else had this problem with Asus's V-7700? could it be an Athlon/mobo/vidcard compatibility issue? Please help, I'm going crazy without my TFC fix!!

First, is this windows Me or windows 98? I know windows Me is a bit pickier on drivers on certain equipment, this has become an unfortunate thing for hurry up and use the new stuff people like myself. I have not had problems with Me, but my wide number of contacts here at work have reported some problems with hardware compatibility.

Also, the Generic Ram, might be an issue, Athlon's have been notoriously picky on ram for some reason, I myself amd running generic ram in an athlon system, but from what I hear I am lucky it works flawlessly.

More info on the operating system, and maybe a list of the games you are trying? If TFC = Team Fortress Classic, I am running that on my system that is running Me, and i know that program is not one that has a flaw with windows Me.

**this is Richard Remmy, i'm at work now and forgot the pw for my other user name.

Thx for the prompt reply...i'm running in win98se. i'm thinking about upgrading to ME but will only do that if I can eliminate every other possible suspect, including RAM.
in my original message i said i couldn't install Superbike 2000; now i can't install anything from a CD. The setup executable warns that an uninstall log could not be created but continues along until it starts to actually copy the files. Then I get an "invalid page fault" message in some file called "_inst3086.dll" or something similar and it kills the setup program. Could that possibly be a RAM symptom? or maybe a CD-R drive issue? it's strange because i installed new video drivers using a setup program that worked fine. it only fails when i run it from a CD. hmm...i need to go to Plextor's website and look for updated drivers.
But if that doesn't fix it, should i look at getting new RAM? anybody know of a program that thoroughly tests RAM?

thx for reply, ReddDogg. i'm using win98se and some other weird things have been happening. first, i can't get any Setup executables to run from CD. they say "unInstaller setup failed to initialize-you may not be able to uninstall this program." Then the setup starts to copy files but stops when a fatal error occurs. it says:

"_INS0576 caused an invalid page fault in
module ZDATAI50.DLL at 0167:100013ae." yata, yata, yata...

and also i can't get any .mpg clips to run, they make my system hang.

you think it is a RAM issue?
