Hello,

I have just bought a new ati radeon 9250 256mb video card a couple of days ago. After inserting the card in the AGP slot and restarting, my pc does not boot. There are no beeps, nothing. Just a blank screen.

My pc has the following specs:

intel pentium 4 1.7ghz
384 mb ram
40 gb hd
windows xp sp2

Do you think the problem is with my video card?

Please help

Is the video card seated properly?
Is the molex power connector connected to the video card?
Does the motherboard have onboard video?
Is the onboard video disabled in the BIOS?
Is your VGA cable connected to the video output on your AGP card and NOT the VGA output on your motherboard?

The only problem I can see with the video card itself is that it is out of date :) you might consider upgrading to the HD 3870.

The card is seated properly.
What is a molex power connector?
My motherboard does have onboard video which I disabled.
And yes, I did connect the video cable to the AGP card.

My pc is quite old; bought it about 5-6 years ago and it supports only agp 2x or 4x. That's why I bought this card which is compliant.

Do you think the problem is with my power supply?

After a brief inspection I found that the card does not require any direct connections to the power supply. It does not have 4 pins sticking out.

I understand there is a 4x AGP model of the HD 3870 available. The best card you can get aside from that is the Nvidia 6800 GT.

Anyway, at this point I suggest contacting the manufacturer's customer support. Providing the card is installed correctly you should not be having any problems.
