My trusted CRT monitor which has USB ports on the base is starting to fail (the picture occassionally flickers).

I wanted to purchase a powered USB 2.0 hub which has 2 ports at the back (adjacent to the power supply connector) and at least 2 ports at the front.

I have been looking at getting a USB hub but have some questions please.

1. I wanted all the ports to be able to provide 500mA. I have read threads that state that some some hubs have ports that provide 500mA and others ports that provide 100mA. I guess the giveaway is 4 port USB hubs that provide a power supply which generates say 1.25A.

2. I also wanted the USB hub to always power the ports. I did read that some hubs have some type of auto feature and may draw power from the pc's USB port.

3. I would like the rear ports and the power supply connector not to be bunched up and for the front ports also to be well space out.

4. Don't need any stacking feature in particular.

5. Something that is going to be reliable.

6. Don't want to break the bank....:)

Any suggestions as to what I could get which would be available in the U.K.

Many thanks for any info provided.

Cheers
