A co-worker is having some financial difficulties and I'm buying his 3 month old Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV 1080p from him. I have always wanted to use an LCD TV as a monitor so I can sit on my couch with the wireless keyboard and mouse. I have an HP Pavilion Media Center a1253w 80g HD 512MB 3200 DDR SDRAM Athalon 3400. More specs can be found here.......http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00610113&lc=en&cc=us&product=1843604&dlc=en
The sound went out a while back and I put a soundblaster card from wal mart in it. I plan to upgrade the computer with 2 gigs of RAM and a 400w power supply. Now bear with me please, I only know enough about all this stuff to screw something up. Should I install a video card? Should I use one of those cables that goes from s-video to HDMI (I think that's right) or use the VGA connections? I'm not playing video games but I would like to be able to watch video over the internet on the LCD TV. I was looking at this video card as a possibility but there are so many choices and I don't know where to begin.
